Thrifty Thursday: Vintage Wool Dress
You know how I love old clothes and a bargain? Well this dress is SUPER old and was a SUPER bargain.
Cashier: You sure you want this?
Me: Yes. I like old clothes.
Cashier: I can tell.
Me:…
Cashier: This has holes in it. You don’t want this.
Me: I can sew.
Cashier: A lot of holes.
Me: It’s OK.
Cashier: Just take it. If you don’t I’m throwing it away.
Me: K byeeeeee
So… yes, it did have a number of holes that I had to stitch up painstakingly by hand. But also, it has a matching belt. And it was vintage. And it was free. So I felt like a big winner rocking this one to work!
Until 9:15 AM, when I stretched and promptly ripped a shoulder seam wide open. Thank God for staplers, amiright?
The Outfit
Brand: this was for sure made by hand. No brand and wiggly seams. I love it so much.
Cost: FREE!!!!
Time: About an hour of mending while I swung on the porch swing watching the kids play. Not a bad way to pass the time.
Number of times I had to close my office door and staple the seams back tighter: 2
Number of staples currently in dress: 17
Vintage: I’m guessing 50’s? 60’s?
So fun, and the perfect Christmas color!
