Thrifty Thursday: Vintage Coat Dress

It’s been said that great clothes are less about how they look and more about they make you feel. Exhibit A:

See? And I THINK he knows what he’s talking about.

For that reason, this dress holds the title of Favorite Thrift Purchase, which, as you can imagine, is a prettttttty high honor in my house. It had some steep competition, but the design, color, and comfort factors really set it apart.

This dress makes me feel fashionable. It makes me feel professional. But most of all, it makes me feel like a blonde Meghan Markle and for that, I will love it forever.

Is anyone else all heart eyes for her? She rocks a coat dress (and also everything else she wears and says and does) like nobody’s business. I know intellectually that she’s human (99% sure), but she’s an absolute angel and I refuse to accept that she may possess a single flaw.

The Outfit

Time: Oh, the ironing. *shakes fists at sky* I wish I could have those 15 minutes of my life back, but for this dress it was totally worth it.
Also: this was a bit big on me, but the absolute beauty of a wrap dress is that it is very easily tailored because you just wrap it more or less as needed. In this case, all I had to do was move the internal clasps over a few inches to make the dress wrap more. Easy, right? Except even that was going to take too long so I just slapped a few safety pins in the spots I needed the clasps to hook and went about my day. At some point I’ll take the 10 minutes to do this the right way, but that day is not today. The pins worked just fine and added the extra thrill of wondering when one was going to pop open and stab me all day.
