Hi.

Thanks for stopping by! I'm happy you're here.

Thrifty Thursday: Vintage Cape

Thrifty Thursday: Vintage Cape

“I’m mostly cold, but my arms are hot” must have been what the inventor of the cape was thinking. I’m guessing the same person also invented those long sleeved, shoulderless shirts that are all the rage right now. “Primarily I’m freezing… but my shoulders could stand to be kissed by a light breeze.” Fashion, man. It’s a real trip.

So we can go ahead and file my love of capes squarely in the “makes no sense” file. To be fair, that file is veritably brimming in my life, but capes are especially nonsensical.

Don’t get me wrong- I never feel more glam than when I’m rocking a cape and heels. I feel straight up fancy AF and even the goosebumps and/or frostbite on my arms do nothing to slow my roll. I am Audrey Hepburn plus Jackie Kennedy plus Meghan Markle (*curtsies*) all at the same time in a cape and don’t you try to convince me otherwise.

So imagine my unmitigated delight when I found this VINTAGE, CAMEL CAPE WITH POCKETS at Goodwill. I grabbed it off of the rack immediately and then promptly sprinted to the checkout lest someone snatch it out of my cart when I wasn’t looking (yes, this has happened to me. Yes, more than once. Goodwilling is a full contact sport and this is why it obviously qualifies as moderate to heavy exercise.).

The Outfit

  • Brand: no tag, wahhh! I really wanted to be able to research this treasure.

  • Vintage: I’m guessing 1950’s based on the style

  • Scent: this thing has a strong, inexplicable lemon odor. Even after dry cleaning. It’s a mystery.

  • Cost: $10 plus $6 for dry cleaning (my cleaner was having a bitchin’ sale on coat cleaning, which I legitimately got very excited about. I adult so hard.)

  • Accessories: black leather leggings from Marshall’s, black turtleneck from circa 2009, black tassel earrings from Target, and Calvin Klein heels with my favorite accessory, black pom pom shoe clip ons (Hobby Lobby)

“Berly! Look, even the back is cute!” God bless Berly and her never-ending patience.

So delighted I’m literally kicking my heels up. Well… heel.
