DIY: Baby Hat & Bunny Slipper Set
I’ve been wanting to try a new color block hat design using a seed stitch, so when I was invited to a baby shower for Noah’s cousin, I knew exactly what I wanted to make. I also fell in love with these bunny slippers I recently made, and wanted to try the infant size.
I started with the hat, and just knitted a normal baby beanie (I don’t have a pattern… it’s just burned in my memory at this point) using seed stitch (knit-pearl-knit-pearl) for a nice texture. Crocheted hats are much quicker, but I love the look of these stitches and it was completely worth the extra time. After a few inches, I switched from the ivory color over to mauve and I love the way the color block turned out. I topped it off with a mauve pompon (here’s how to make one!) and added the sweet baby’s name- I’m going to have to make this one again! So sweet.
Next, I used this pattern to make sweet baby bunny slippers using the same yarn and finished it with a little mauve nose. They look so cute as a set. Total time for hat and slippers was 5-6 hours.
I used Yarn Bee ‘Breathe Deep’ yarn from Hobby Lobby in Mauve and Ivory.
