Thrifty Thursday: Bow-Sleeve Velvet Dress
Several months ago I found this BA fitted velvet dress with bows on each shoulder and snapped it up, knowing it would come in handy at one of the many glam holiday parties I was sure to attend. Well, I attended one (1) holiday party, where I rocked the tartan tablecloth dress with no regrets. But that poor, glorious velvet dress never got its day.
Fast forward to last week. World’s best MIL called Noah to see if we’d like her to take the kids Saturday night.
Well, let’s see. Current status: they’ve been off school for 24 days straight and if we have to play one more pre-bedtime game of Don’t Break the Ice we’re going to lose our ever-loving minds.
Yes. Yes, we would like an entire, blissful night to ourselves. Mimi’s stock just rose by a factor of 400 rounds of Hungry Hungry Hippos in my books.
So we packed their clothes and their blankets and their stuffed animals and their favorite action figures and the pajamas that they would likely refuse to wear and their glow in the dark turtles and met Mimi half way to her house in the parking lot of an insurance agency. #bye
Saturday at 5 PM: what do you want to do? Let’s have a low key night. Something easy.
Saturday, 6:30 PM: I’m sipping a dirty martini at the fanciest steak house in town, and darn it if I didn’t finally find an excuse to rock that velvet dress.
Saturday at 8:45 PM: Home in jammies in front of fireplace
Saturday at 9:15 PM: sawing logs
Best date night ever.
