Thrifty Thursday: Plaid Collared Dress
I’m beginning to run out of my vintage thrifted clothing collection, but fear not: my modern thrifted clothing collection is virtually unlimited.
In fact, my entire outfit today- from my dress to my coat to my shoes- is from Goodwill.
So without further ado, I would like to introduce you to one of my very favorite thrift dresses of all time. It is from Talbots, where all the fancy ladies shop, and features fancy lady things like a matching bow belt and cuff links. Well… cuff link. One was missing. I replaced it with a safety pin, like the fancy lady that I am.
While I do have to dry clean this dress, which is a real con for me, the fit is perfect and the style and colors are lovely and timeless. There is a tricky side zipper which I may or may not have made it until 10 AM having completely forgotten to zip (#facepalm), but otherwise this dress is perfect. I love the versatility because it is fun and fashionable while still being very professional: I’ve worn it to a board meeting, a memorial service, and out for a date night.
There are several of these selling on Poshmark in the $45-$50 range, so I found a bargain with this $7 purchase at Goodwill.
The Outfit:
Brand: Talbot’s
Cost: $7 plus dry cleaning. I usually avoid DCO pieces like the plague, but this one is worth it.
Accessories:
Vintage navy Forecaster of Boston trench coat from Goodwill
Express shoes from Goodwill
